I picked up a dayton 12" powered sub a while back for 120 bucks and i put it out in the living room and people decide that "knobs all the way to the right means better" so it blew the sub in it, so im looking for a replacement. I have about 150 watts to work with... any ideas?

Cheap prefferably, scince the whole thing was only 120$

thats an option i guess, but im afraid thats the same thing that it came with....it looks awfully similar, but the one in it didnt have and model numbers at all.

Well within a cheap budget mind, thats the best choice. Anything else suitable for it with more power handling is going to cost over 50% of what you paid for the whole thing. I would personally go with at least this one.

But that is only $20 less than you paid for your whole unit. To me it is still a bargain though.

Well i just picked up an Infinity 1230W off of ebay for 32 shipped, so i'm gonna try that out, the stock enclosure seems about right, I know its a car sub, but i figure for 32$ it will be worth a shot, and it will probably be better than that cheap dayton.

Have you tried it yet? post the results when you do. I just got my dayton 12" 150 w sub yesterday. The thing rocks. The neighbors are pissed lol.

Well i got the infinity on friday, and with a little modification, replaced the old dayton..

For some reason the output of the infinity is noticibly lower than the other sub, im not sure why... its the same impedence, fairly efficient... i dont get it.

It still gets quite loud though, it has been rattling things off of shelves and shaking the pictures on the walls.

As far as the sound quality, i like it better than the old sub... it has a much more subtle high-end feel to it instead of the Ghetto bass the dayton was happy to provide. It blends with the music better and you feel it more than hear it.

Also the limits of the dayton were very apparent, but this one takes the 150 watts from the stock amp and is hungry for more... but i think the enclosure is a little small for it, and i can hear port noise at high volumes...

Overall though: 30 dollars well spent on the upgrade...

Oh here is a picture of it..i ditched the grill to show off the infinityness of it all, I think it look pretty nice actually, unlike our shitty TV and my one unfinished speaker...

Yeah but look around...its ALOT cheaper than every other place- is our hate against wallmart really worth 500-1000$?

I hate walmart as much as anybody, but sometimes its hard to avoid, especially when your poor... when i get through college and get a real job and can afford to hate walmart then i will boycott it fully:mad:
