I removed the factory unit and kickpanel speakers. Rear speakers were not installed. I just finished installing the head unit and two front speakers (Infinity Ref 4012I). The rear speakers are not yet installed. I'm getting terrible static and buzzing at mid-volume. I get it whether using the tuner or iPod. It sounds like a weak station. What could cause this? The car was prewired for four speakers, the wiring for the head unit was a little tricky. I had to find flat male slip in connectors that would fit the female plug on the factory wiring harness. I had to crimp these connectors onto the wires of the Kenwood harness. My car is so old that no wiring harness exists to connect to the Kenwood harness. There were separate neg terminals for the head unit power and speakers. I had to find a non-switched 12V source for the battery wire.
