replacing factory 10'' woofer with aftermarket and hole is too big.

I have a Honda pilot 2004 and I am replacing the factory woofer with an after market but the hole in the honda is bigger than normal so the hole pattern for my screws on the aftermarket woofer have no wall to grab on to. Is there an adapter of some sort? is it made this way so we can not remove factory woofer?

make a adapter plate from some wood and install the adapter using the factory screw holes and then screw the sub into the plate.

but check the clearance of the sub from the cover make sure the adapter will make it fit nicely. do some pre measuring and then pick your thickness wood.
