repair surround ???

My idmax got a small tear in the surround in my wreck. It goes all the way through but it isnt that bad i guess, ill take pics if necessary. Autozone will carry a silicon or something i should use i guess. Is there something specific for rubber?

What's the best way to repair the foam surround on the sub. Will this effect the performance of the sub?
My 10 split a while back and you have two options.

Your best bet is to replace the surround. Check out this website, if done properly, the speaker will sound as good as new.

Option two is to attempt a repair using some sort of chemical. When I repaired mine I used "hard as nails" acrylic nail polish. The trick is to get some inside of the crack, some on the back of the crack, and some on the front of the crack. The more coats the better. I've heard of other people using rubber cement, incredible goop, etc. I don't care what anybody says, your speaker will never sound as good as it did before, but if done properly you can come close.
