Repair question??

OK my friend had an L7 15" hooked up to a Precision Power 480 or something. He said be blew it when he disconected the sub and the speaker wires touched. He told me he would sell it to me for $40. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it and about how much it would cost to fix? The amp is a tank and weighs a ton, and it seemed like a great amp when he had it hooked up.
