removing sound deadener?

Be VERY careful with acetone - it will remove any paint it touches! It's overkill for this job. Second Skin Damplifier should come off quite cleanly, especially if you are just taking it off at the edges. Score the foil with a razor blade - don't cut all the way through or you will cut into the paint. Once the foil is cut, you should be able to grab the piece you want to remove and just pull it away. If any adhesive remains, either grab it with your fingers or use another piece of deadener to dab at it and pull it away.

A heat gun can help soften it if you need to, but it will also make it more likely that some adhesive will be left behind. If there is residue that you can't get off mechanically, use something like Goo-Gone, WD-40 or mineral spirits to clean it up.
