Removing Metra Wiring harness

Hi all,

I had a previously installed aftermarket stereo and I wanted to try and install a newer one myself. I have everything removed, but I am trying to remove the current metra wiring harness as I'm ordering a new one for this radio.

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the harness from the original plugs. Does it have a clip somewhere to release it?

Different car factory harness plugs have different types of locking mechanisms, as do different radios. What model car & radio are you trying to unplug the harness from?

In general there is either:

1) a tab on the side of one of the connectors that you have to press while pulling the connector

OR

2) a tab that has to be pried out slightly with a screwdriver to release the connector

OR

3) a lever that must be opened to unlock the connectors from one another (Hondas have this)

OR

4) you just have to work them loose
