Removing head unit.

I'm about to remove my Alpine 9827 to plug RCAS and stuff, it was installed by a shop. Now is there a special way to remove it?(clips, screws) thanks in advance.

there are a set of "key tools" that you slide in on either side of the HU and pull out, im sure if you go to your local car audio store or bb or cc they will give you a set.

they are just little thin pieces of metal, they should give them to you because just a bout every cd player comes with a set in the box. Is this a new Alpine or an old one?

New one...just checked the box, nothing in there! Guess i'll have to pop in the shop

yeah, the shop probably just kept them, go to where you got it installed and get em.

Alpines don't need keys. All you have to do is remove the face and there will be two little circular sliders on either side of the inside of the trim ring. Slide those up, and the deck will slide right out. Thats why there aren't any keys in the box.

I thought only the old ones had those clips, i havent had to take mine out yet, but my new 9853 came with keys.

im lucky when it comes to taking out my headunit, i just pop off the dash trim piece and unbolt the dash kit, 3 bolts, and work on the HU with the dash kit still on it, lol

Not for me, i can take my dash appart in less than 30 seconds with a power screwdriver

If you were calling me a tard, i resent that. Any competent theif would know what I stated. The new (05) use keys, but every one before doesn't (i.e. cda-9827).

Anyway, im going to brush off what you said. I just wanted to voice that I did take offence to it. Thank you.
