Just scrape the excess off with a puddy knife of some sort.

razor blade or puddy knife.. i havent stripped too many boxes but the ones i did strip i sanded down after taking the carpet off. the glue is normally rock hard and sands off pretty easy.

orbital sander will be the quickest way as long as the glue isnt still sticky. once the carpet is off of course.

Just hope the carpet that was used is latex backed, or you will have some issues lol (it will want to stick to the box and there will be a ton of leftover fuzz)

take a oribital or mouse sander, put some 80 grit on there and sand all the glue off, then go up in sand paper to about 600 for paint

Doubt it, just will have to scrape it off. Don't sand it down with the fuzz still on there cause it will just make a mess.

Best bet is 3M Adhesive Remover and a putty knife.
