OK, I know this is not going to be fun in the blaring July Florida heat, but I made the mistake of installing edead a few years ago and would like to redo the doors at least in some nice product.

The stuff I put on the trunk floor is sticking hard in some spots, and coming off in others. I will probably just leave it as probably 90% is still binding, and my big bass days are over. But the doors- I want them to be properly done this time.

Heat gun and acetone in a spray bottle perhaps? Will the acetone flash at the temps the heat gun is putting out?

Use the heat gun to soften the asphalt as you pull it off. Clean the residue with mineral spirits, then clean the mineral spirits residue with denatured alcohol or acetone. With a little practice you can get pretty good at it.

I remember seeing somewhere where someone used dry ice on it the it became very brittle and easy to take off.

Low heat. You want to pull up an edge and then use just enough heat to pull it off. works best when you can shoot the heat between the mat and the substrate once you get it started.

Just wanted to let you know this method works great. It's gonna be a little tricky getting it all off, but I think it'll be worth it to redo in some butyl mat for a truly nice install.
