Remote Turn On Wire

ok, i have an orion 1200D and an 8004, i am wiring the system myself, i have most of the wiring finished already, but i just have one question. do i have to run the remote turn on wire from the deck to the amps? if i dont will the amps just turn on when the car comes on? if i do have to run the remote turn on wire, can i daisy chain it from one amp to the other? thanks alot for any help

daisy chaining should work fine. you have to wire the remote lead or otherwise the amp will be constantly on. unless you can find a 12V source that only comes on when you turn the key on, use the remote lead.

If you want the amps to turn on and off with your headunit then yes you do.

If nothing at all is connected to the remote activation input on the amps then they won't turn on at all. The power and ground connections are nothing more than that. The source of power and the connection to ground for the amp. The signal the amp recieves from the remote activation input tells it whether or not to operate.

Yes, you can.On your deck there should be two wires in the harness that plugs into the rear of the unit. One will have a white stripe and the other should not.

Connect the lead with the white stripe to the remote turn-on input on one amp and then have another wire going from that terminal on the first amp to the corresponding terminal on the second amp.

what gauge wire do you people with 3 big amps use? can clean looking relays be found?

Are you talking about what guage wire gets used for the remote turn-on lead, 1mean?

If so it doesn't matter at all.

Just to prove a point to a friend of mine the remote turn-on lead I used for my monoblock is tee-tiny *** wire...something like 24awg or 26awg (I'm talking less than pencil lead thin)

sweet, i knew that, just didnt know if splitting the signal between 3 amps, one a 3kw beast with dual power supplies would require a relay or something.

Well - I have no solid empirical evidence to back it up, 1mean, but the rule of thumb that I go by is is the HU is going to be asked to activate 3 or more accessories (amps, neons, what-have-you) then incorporate a relay into the remote activation lead.

Less than three shouldn't require it.

But a relay is awfully cheap insurance IMO when you're doing 3 or more things so like I said...that's the rule of thumb I personally adhere to.
