Remote start on 5-speed?

I have a 5 speed transmission in my camaro, but i have done a clutch "bypass", meaning i don't have to push the clutch to start my car. Is it illegal to put remote start on my car? Or can it even be done, and i know the car would have to be in neutral for it to work...

i dont know what youre really looking for but i know this much.. my friend has an integra 5-speed and he installed remote start on his vehicle himself.. its all just a bunch of relays and isnt that hard if you know electronics.. anyways, it worked on his car. and one time he had his car in first gear without the e-brake on and the engine was off. he used the remote start to turn on his car and right when it turned on it jumped forward about a foot, smashing into the car in front of him. he forgot he had it in first gear. i hope this answers your question somehow.. hahah

i am one of those kind of people who always parks in neutral with the e-brake and NEVER in gear, so i got the compustar alarm system a while ago and it works great for my 5 speed- this is also a camaro

1994 3.4L 5 speed camaro

look into compustar alarms they are very nice and i love mine

hope that helps

as far as legality goes i dont think youve even gotta worry about that. whats the worse that can happen? you get pulled over and the cop asks "do you have a clutch bypass with remote start installed on your car cuz if so its illegal and im going to give u a ticcet"?

if you want, use an alarm called Astrostart... they are extremely reliable, and u can get a bypass for a manual *****... they are excelent... little bit cheaper than the Compustar... much much more range too...

longest range in the industry...

sounds like lube (astroglide) lol.

they make them now for manual equipped cars/ trucks. my brother sells them at his shop. the only real difference is that there is a mode of operations you have to perform before you get outta the car in order to assure it will be safe to start. i can find out make/ model if ya want

there is nothing real special you have to do. you just have to bypass the clutch and if you car requires an immobilizer bypass thats it. it is about the same as an automatic..

I have a 2002 toyota corolla s typ 5 speed and thats all i did. i always parkmy car in neutral with the ebrake up.

also iheard that if a cop chooses to inspect your car for any reason. or if the insuarnce does cause you damaged a car by remote starting it, that the fine is $185,000.

and another incident is where if it does hurt someone, it is attempted manslaughter

which is why im saying to buy the system designed for a manual car. any bozo with a hint of brains can make a regular auto start work on a stick.

yea, or if you never park it in gear then your good. and usually when im unsure about it i walk out to my car and turn on my ac and make sure it is out of gear then i remote start it. cause i just use my remote start to cool down my car... or warm it up in the winter. and my car is 10ft away from my front door.

Ya but what if someone else besides you drives the car , can you vouche for what they're gonna do? or what if some one breaks into your car and you didn't know . What if they bumped the stick. You remotestart the car and run someone over or damage property, can you vouche that won't happen?

so you buy a compustar. you have to put the car in "reservation mode" to remote start it.

First, you must be in neutral...then

1.) Take your foot off the brake

2.) Apply the ebrake

3.) Take the key out of ignition (Car remains running)

4.) Get out, close door within 2minutes (I believe its 2mins)

5.) Car arms itself, and is in reservation mode

If you have your foot on the brake when you apply the ebrake, if you are in gear, if you dont apply the ebrake, etc, you cant remote start the car.

Also, if you have this feature on a manual, if you put the car in reservation mode, and then later on you go to get something out of the car, you have to unarm the car (obviously, to get inside), and that takes the car OUT of reservation mode. Basically if you forget something in your car you'd have to unarm it, get whatever it was, restart the car, put it back in reservation mode, and then you could start it.

In short, unarming/arming the car when in reservation mode takes the car out of reservation mode.
