Remote Control Wire Question

I was installing an amp and some subs in my new Jeep last night. The previous owner had the wires all electrical tapped up, including the remote control wire. I pulled on it to get it out, and ended up ripping it out of the back of the head unit as well. I'm not sure which slot it goes in, but I don't want to randomly test it because I'm not interested in blowing a fuse or frying my system. Currently I haven't gone and hooked up the amp, and don't plan on it til i fix this issue. So my CD player now acts like everything is fine, but nothing comes out of my speakers, despite the only change being the pulled out wire.

Is there a way I can figure out which slot the remote control wire goes in? Also, once I get it in will the stock speakers work again?

If you post what model of head unit you have, someone can probably tell you which pin the remote wire goes to. A temporary fix would be to tap that wire into the red accessory wire; then the amps would come on with the ignition key. Your stock speakers stopped working because the Jeep is equipped with a factory amplifier, which has its own turn-on connected to that wire.

Thank you KaeZoo... It's a Sony CDX-GT10W

What I don't understand about the speakers no longer working is that the remote control wire was not connected to anything. It was in the back of the head unit, but the other end went no where. So now, instead of being connected in only one area, it's connected in none, so I just don't understand why it would stop working.

Im thinking not enough info, but perhaps something got grounded out that shouldn't have when you ripped out the wire. I've had such issues involving this hu as well. The remote wire goes into the pin that is inbetween the ant remote wire and the front right speaker wire positive which is a grey wire. Btw, who hooked up this hu?

There really isn't a whole lot of information I can tell you. All of the wires for the amp are good to go, but NOT hooked up anywhere, so they are out of the picture... at least I think. The only change that was made was the remote control wire was ripped out of the back of the head unit. If the remote control wire wasn't hooked up to anything previously, am I correct in saying that my sound should still be coming from the stock system in there?

The head unit was setup by the people who had the Jeep before me, and they tapped the shit out of the thing.

Thanks for the wire info hydra

If all of a sudden a wire coming loose like that and the speakers stopped working, it seems like it would have to be something like a hot wire touching the ground...

The wire shouldn't have been hot, but there is that possibility. But the wire didn't come to close to hitting the ground. I appreciate the information on where the remote wire goes hydra... I should be able to fix this problem now. Btw, did you find that information online or just off the top of your head? I wouldn't mind seeing a diagram

If it's an Infinity system, then it definitely has a factory amp, and there's definitely a remote turn-on wire in the factory harness that needs to get voltage or the amplifier won't work. In a normal installation the factory remote wire (probably green/red) will be connected to the blue/white remote output at the head unit. Are you 100% completely certain that the blue/white wire from the head unit wasn't connected to anything in the factory harness? In any case, make sure the factory remote wire is connected to a voltage source when the head unit is on, and that should bring your speakers back. If that doesn't work, check all your vehicle fuses; the factory amp has its own fuse separate from the radio fuse, so that may be blown.

Thanks a ton kaez..i will check this out when I get home from work, and you're troubleshooter there should lead me to finding the problem. I'll post back if I can't figure this out...thanks again
