Remember Fukushima?

I think natural gas is here for a LONG time. It is fixing to go up in price too. I heard CA has 2 nuclear power plants still running. There state congress is looking for 500K signatures to agree to shut them down. If those can't make enough energy for the state it is going to take alot of natural gas to replace the nuclear power. I work in the gas industry so it doesn't really hurt my feelings any.
Wind turbines are a joke. They are expensive and inefficient and only exist because the government subsides them. I guess the government forgot that the necessity is the mother of all invention. Alternative energy isn't a necessity yet so it isn't profitable. When they started putting the wind turbines in my area, the electrical company offered to all the residents that they could be switched over the the new green electricity and help save the plantet. The only down side was your electric bill was going to quadruple.
The nuclear power plant here in San Diego powers nearly half the county... That's roughly a million people alone and there have been no talks of shutting it Down.... And unlike the one in Japan this one sits directly on the beach so the cut off of water is unlikely to happen

natural gas is all good, except where they pump chemicals into the ground to bust up shale to get it. any other way is fine by me. that's not the only source of natual gas, but it's a big one.
Choo mean hydraulic fracturing? It's safe bro. More moonbat bullshit trying to frighten the masses into giving up our cars and houses and goin' back to the horse and buggy and living in fucking tee pees.

In a hydraulic fracturing job, "fracturing fluids" or "pumping fluids" consisting primarily of water and sand are injected under high pressure into the producing formation, creating fissures that allow resources to move freely from rock pores where it is trapped.
Typically, steel pipe known as surface casing is cemented into place at the uppermost portion of a well for the explicit purpose of protecting the groundwater. The depth of the surface casing is generally determined based on groundwater protection, among other factors. As the well is drilled deeper, additional casing is installed to isolate the formation(s) from which oil or natural gas is to be produced, which further protects groundwater from the producing formations in the well.

Casing and cementing are critical parts of the well construction that not only protect any water zones, but are also important to successful oil or natural gas production from hydrocarbon bearing zones. Industry well design practices protect sources of drinking water from the other geologic zone of an oil and natural gas well with multiple layers of impervious rock.

While 99.5 percent of the fluids used consist of water and sand, some chemicals are added to improve the flow. The composition of the chemical mixes varies from well to well.

well that's sort of like BP saying the oil is all gone.

Hmmmm...but who makes it political? We have huge fossil fuel reserves right here at home, spectacularly safe technology to retrieve it and yet we are told we can get all the energy we want nowadays from the sun, wind and plugging our Prius into an outlet. And of course, who tells us this but our own intelligent federal gov't. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You would be amazed at how the Earth can take care of itself. I haven't heard any of the gulf states bitchin' about a lack of tourism due to all of the oil still washing up on their shores. I seem to recall the "scientists" couldn't seem to figure out where it all went. Hmmmmmm.

"moonbat' is a political term i believe. lol. we need independent research, not 'research' from the industry in question, who happens to make huge profits from said industry. it wouldn't be in their best interest to criticize themselves.

Of course it is...moonbats constitute most of the federal gov't and the major news media. Nothing to do with with fossil fuels is good according to them and they will use any propoganda to perpetuate the lie. I suppose this site is in bed with the industry as well: fracfocus.org

I suspect we will simply have to agree to disagree. Natural gas is a very clean fossil fuel and we have it in abundance here in the U.S.. No reason we shouldn't make use of said natural resource. I mean, have you read how fracking works? Do you see how deep these wells are and the location of said precious groundwater? The scare tactics used to attack this technology is equivalent to the Alar scare. Oy.
