The Bible shouldnt be taken literally //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
there is no eveidence in when it was written, i'm sure a lot of it would get jumbled up in translation, and why does none of that stuff happen now? plus i didn't know these ancient civilizations kept records. did adam and eve sit down and write the book of genesis? who recorded their lives? it seems to me like a nice elaborate story. i also went to a lutheran school for a brief time and i had less belief in god when i left then when i started

I was raised a catholic....but...there were alot of things I disagreed about at a young age.

Some of my questions:

-Is Jesus the only son of God? Why didnt he say that specifically? (we are all children of God)

-Why isnt the Sermon on the Mount followed word by word?

-Why does God have human emotions and favors people in the Bible?

-Why are women belittled?

People should read Ecclesiates throughly...its very interesting. Im surprised it was left in the Bible.

why didn't God destroy the devil? why if he is so mighty, let this shit go on? how did the devil become anyways? why would he create an evil? why would he let someone be evil? why exactly was jesus sent to die? what was the point? he died for our sins? what exactly does that mean? why did he need to sacrifice a child?

The Old Testament was passed down for hundreds, if not thousands of years, by word of mouth before it was put down on a written medium. Is it not too far out there to think that when being told from gereration to generation, there was not some things being changed (added or withheld). A perfect example is that old children's game "Telephone". One kid starts it, and then it goes around the room, and the last kid has totally different words then when it started. If a simple phrase can not be passed around a room, how can the facts of an entire religion before the arrival of Christ be accurately documented from many generations before it was transcribed. Now, the New Testament, for the most part was written many years after Christ had died (debates take it up to 300 years after the fact) by people who did not have first hand experience with Jesus. The gospels were not actually written by the Apostles as the names would lead you to believe. So how accurate are writings that have no direct tie to the subject. Again, the events were passed on by mouth until written down. This is jsut a rough idea, as there is not the time or space to go into more detail. IMO, the ideas and teachings that the Bible contains are what needs to be take to heart, not the literal interpretation of it.

Theoretically, you can not have good without evil. If we lived in a world without evil, no one would know the joys of the good.

A) Just one of the many things that aren't addressed by what people are led to believe is an "infallible document" (even though it is techinically written by man, whi is very fallible)

B) It was too much for people to remember word for word.

C) No answer there

D) IMO, women are belittled in the Bible because that was their place in Society at the times the Bible was transcribed and translated. Men of the time were not about to give woman a reason not to fit into their role as they determined it.

I am god I have the decision of whether everyone around me lives or dies every day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Does anone else find it ironic that some of the most dedicated religous people are also the most hypocritical and judgemental people? I know this doesn't hold true for all, but in my experiences it seems so.

I like to keep a few Bibles near the fireplace....works as great fire starting material on a cold winter night. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

No book in the history of mankind has caused more death, torture, disease, and distruction than the Bible. Not a one.
