Hey Gang
First post here. Ive built a 3 different systems over the years but am looking to make this one my best ever! Ive got a Mint 1990 Dodge Ram that I want to build a killer system for.
Due to limited space behind the seat Ive been kicking around the idea of going with an 8w7, but build the box so that it fires sideways, towards the door. Like a bass tube I suppose but scratch built. Maybe 2, firing in opposite directions, in seperate airspace.
The stock stereo consists of 6x9's in the doors & 5 1/4's in the back. There is a ton of space in the doors so I am thinking of going with an 8" midbass, then 6.5's & tweets, with active passovers.
For a setup like this I would need a 4 channel for mids & tweets, 2 for midbass & then a dedicated amp for the subs correct?
My questions are:
1. Will a box built like that work alright?
2. Whats a good headunit & components to use with Active x-overs? Ive never really concentrated on the front end before, just big bass out back!
Thanks
S.
