regarding POLL: Powered by JL HD750/1, best SQ sub w/ focus on the 20-35Hz region

regarding them being audible....................it's not "may not", rather "will not". the frequency itself (20Hz) is inaudible to humans, BUT the velocity of air rushing by your ear at any given place in the cabin may be audible, the upper harmonics of the panels and interior pieces rubbing together and moving may be audible.....all those things yield the "audible experience" of 20Hz that some may get. but it is other frequencies they hear, not the 20Hz note/tone.

i was only using Fs as another example of misinformation, equal to the one that some subs cannot go as low as 20Hz.

if we want the output to be identical at 20Hz as it is at another frequency, we may definitely need to lower the target dB. but if enclosure volume is not limited, you can get every dynamic driver that is correctly labeled as a subwoofer to play 20Hz at a dB level that would be audible if the frequency could be heard.

The general rule is that humans can only hear from 20-20kHz, but there are some that can hear down to 17 or so. Anything under 17 is felt rather than heard, but it's definitely those specific frequencies that you feel/hear.

Regarding the Fs thing, oh. Alright, cool.

And I didn't know(find it hard to believe) that all subwoofers can move to create a 20Hz frequency. I only find it hard to believe because nearly everyone I've ever seen here uses frequency range as some kind of determining factor of choosing a sub, and only a handful of subs are recommended to people looking for subs to play down to 20Hz or less. I guess that's where the actual components of the subs matter, and how easily a sub can go that low(due to enclosure/power/whatever limits). But anyway, cool. I guess I learned something new. Didn't think all subs could be manipulated to play 20Hz, or rather I never thought about it in such a way to conclude that it's possible.

Why look at this from a complex view point? The truth about car audio is that when you are dealing with sound there are infinite factors that can have an effect on it. At the end of the day its not even practical to run a Sub in the 20 Hz range cuz it sounds like somebody is slapping a wet @SS.
