Refurbished Subwoofers

I was browsing through ebay today and saw that Kicker has a pair of 15" L7's up for $400+S/H. The only thing is that they're listed as "refurbished" and don't really know what to think about them. Here is the link Kicker L7's. I'm not exactly ready to invest in a system yet but it would be nice to know for when I actually have all the money I need together.

So then it would be just like buying brand new subs. I just get worried about the fact that they were sent back to the factory because they didn't work in the first place and now they're on the shelves again.

And thanks for the quick response on that, didn't expect one so fast.

they should be just like new subs except for possible cosmetic defects.

mechanically they should be perfect.

so if you dont mind some scuffs and or scratches then it is a good way to save money on some nice woofers.

Scuffs and scratches can always be touched up or if that doesn't work out then cover them up so I'm not worried about that, I just want it to work and sound the same.

It will. When a subwoofer is "refurbished", that means it was reconed.....everything of importance was literally replaced with brand new parts. The only things reused are the basket and motor.....everything mechanical is brand spankin' new. It's is mechanically a brand new speaker.

So they replace everything mechanical on a subwoofer, what exactly do they replace on a refurbished head unit. I've got a friend that's bought a couple refurbished head units and we can't tell the different.

Electronics are a completely different ball game than a subwoofer. In a headunit or amplifier, they replace/fix whatever caused the malfunction. Could be anything from simply repairing (resoldering) a connection to replacing the transistors, resistors, capacitors, etc. They typically only replace whatever the damaged component was in electronics.....unless it is more cost effective to just drop a new board into them (which does happen sometimes if the manufacturer is the one doing the repair).

Well I think I might just go for the savings and get a refurbished system hope like hell I can find all the equipment I want with some kind of warranty. Who knows of a place to get some nice refurbished equipment with warranties? Preferably someplace you've tried before.

On ebay, look for sellers thestereodirect, highdesertaudio, teamcsw, and hifisoundconnection.

Thestereodirect is an authorized factory outlet for Mitek (Coustic, MTX, Streetwires, etc), and most of their products come with a 90 day factory warranty. Highdesertaudio is the authorized factory outlet for Rockford Fosgate, and most of their products come with a 90 day factory warranty. TeamCSW is the authorized factory outlet for Directed Electronics, and again...most come with a 90 day factory warranty. HifiSoundConnection is an authorized seller of Kicker, and again, most products come with a 90 day warranty.

Doesn't HiFiSoundConnection have a website too? Would the prices be the same on both or would they be a little lower on one of them?
stick a ".com" behind their name //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
