i have 2 06S10L74 ohm subs running at 1ohm from a kicker kx1200.1. stinger 0 gauge with 250ANL, just coax speakers (Kicker 6.5" & Memphis 4x6)now i drive a 2000 S10 with a stock alternator(100amp) which battery would work best? I dont have anything else to power besides the stereo. i changed to 0ga from 4ga to reduce to voltage drops, i still need to do the big3 but what optima is what i want?? oh i live in iowa if that makes a difference.

heard the red top comes with a 3 year warr.yellow top, a 1 year warr

theres a blue top apparently? (that cant be right).
yah there is a blue top.

as for the red and yellow, i didnt really know what would suite me best, so when i got to the store today, i bought a red top, it was like 5$ cheaper //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I think yellow tops are meant more for a system. Like if you wanna bump with your car off a yellow top is good. A red top I think is just for starting current. Cold cranking amps. I think the blue is for marine use?

Like said before red top is for cold dranking amps. SOmething thats not supposed to fail at starting your car and be mountable in any position. I have one and i run everything off it and it works like a champ. THe yellow is for auxillary lighting, steeo, winch and for other continuos power draw applications. The blue is pretty much a marin of the yellow if i remember right.

that is correct, and i've had a red top for a couple years now drawing a ton from the stereo and a ton from a bunch of auxilories (sp) and have had minimul problems, plus the 3 year warrenty is great too

buy the yellow top. Hands down the better choice for a system.

Red tops is a starting battery. Meant for starting. The yellow top is designed for audio systems. anything that needs to run all the extra crap we put in our cars. (not saying a red top won't do the job but a yellow top does it better)

Blue top is a marine battery.

I run a single yellow top in my car and it made a BIG difference. Before I did the big3 and had a stock battery my lights would dim a bit when the bass really hit. I installed a yellow top and my lights never dimmed again. I then did the big 3 just for shits and giggles.

Only once did I run the yellow top dead. not sure how long it took but was bumping while I worked on my car in my garage when all of a sudden everything died. my motorcycle + speaker wires + my dead optima in my car and she was up and running. these batteries are designed to go dead repeatedly and still fully charge up like new. Optima won me over as a loyal customer for life with their yellow top.

i vote neither. do the big 3 and then upgrade alt if needed. a yellowtop is only benificial if you play your system with the engine off. a redtop is just useless imo
Why?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif The Red Top works just fine as long you dont drain it till it needs recharged. Plus both have close to the same reserve capacity. (D34/78) That doesnt mean I dont think the Yellow Top is better though.

i mean they work an all but i cannot justify paying more for a redtop vs. say an everstat maxx. everstart maxx has 100 more cca and a better warranty to boot.
