Red top battery

I just got a sick deal on a redtop locally... I know there not meant for car audio, but they have to be better then my stock battery right?

Its brand new and was sitting at 12.4 when i tested it. Is that normal? How should i go about putting it in, just put in and start up or should i jump it with another car first? I dont have a battery charger or i would do that....

Im running an orion 2500d but only pushing in the 1400-1600 watts range as of now, the lights do dim if i exceed... I have done 2 out of the big 3 for now. Will do the next one soon ( 2 weeks max )

Just had a few questions... Arent they meant to put out solid numbers for 10 seconds?

You don't need to jump it, if it's sitting at 12.4 you should just be able to drop it in and start up. It wouldn't hurt to throw a battery charger on it first, but as long as it has enough juice to start your car, your alt will charge it up just fine.

Yea i never run it with the car off, its a daily driver, mainly bump hard (1600+) when on the highway with windows down, i normally dont see dimming, but if im showing it to someone in park i rev the engine to ~ 2k rpms so the alt is at max (120 amps) so the battery is barely being used...

Model 4000

Less than 800 cubic inches

Dimensions: H 8 5/8" X W 6 3/4" X L13"

Weight: 75.5 lbs.

Two years in the making, the Xstatic Corporation has tried to achieve the energy equivalent of TWO Model 2000s in ONE case!

Its here now in the Model 4000, a 12volt, 100ah battery with an internal resistance of 2 m ohm and over 2,000 amps of useable energy.

i run mine off for about 20 mins a day at a moderate level and no problems:veryhapp:
I must have killed a few times. I never did it with music; I had a yellow top in the trunk with that setup. It was always when I was doing some sort of work that required me to have the doors open. The last time I remember was when I installed my alarm. I've had no issues with my yellow top up front since I went back to just one battery. The rear battery was deep cycled and never was hooked up to the car's electrical system. Long story short, be careful what you do with that red top up front. I've read that when treated right, they'll last 10+ years.

Just installed it and letting my car run for a little my voltage is at 14.7 right now, i found i had a cut wire so i just twisted them together and my service engine soon light went away too... Im so happy tight now.. Ha. Let see how it handles the system...
