Ok I am running a US Amps VLX-400 so lots of current...I called some local alternator places and they to upgrade the battery under the hood to a RED Top and put another RED top in the trunk and I should be good......(they must not know what im dealing with..lol)

Now I was told use a Yellow top in the trunk for stereos bc it is more vibration proof over the red top....

Now im confused what should I do...

1. two red tops

2. one red top under hood and one yellow top in the trunk.

Jay

i would also like to know this, i heard one red top is better under the hood ( cant remember what for ) and a yellow top would be best in the trunk, but what makes a red top under the hood to be better than a yellow top under the hood

The yellow top is better for deep cycling (you drain quite a bit of juice before recharging it, like running the stereo for awhile with the car off). It isnt good for starting the vehicle, like the red top.

vibrations dont affect it.

This is just info from what Ive read, so I could be wrong.

red top is a starting batt

you can use any of em for a starter battery *shrugs shoulders*
Yup...

I run a Yellow Top as a primary battery, but if I was to do it again, I would have researched a bit more and bought a surplus industrial OEM deep cycle battery (from Hawker, Odyssey, Rolls, etc...) But I was lazy and the local Autozone had one in stock.

I've never had a problem with a deep cycle not having enough "oomph" to get the starter turning.

X2 my yellow top works just fine for starting, and its a good idea if your running two batteries or more to keep them the same size/model too

is that when the yellow/red top is so dirty, it's brown?

No, it's when he pulls his **** out of his boyfriends butt, and goes "WOOT - ! BROWN TOP!" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
