recone?

i got a soundstream spl160 15" sub lying around and was considering messing around and trying to recone it. does anyone know anything about these subs? it it worth the few bux for the kit or is it just a shitty motor to use in the first place? heres 2 pics. click them to make them larger.

Looks pretty hefty to me. If they really have 3" coils, you should be able to make some pretty nice subs from them if they're done with the proper parts.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but how much power should i feed into an SPL160 and what's a nice enclosure? My friend has had one lying around for the longest time barely used and we're thinking of playing with it.
