let's say my masking tape job didn't hold up when i used the air gun to blow off left over residue after sanding.

i tip'd the sub upside down and got a chunk of the surround out, i don't see any other visible debree down there, would i bet okay to just go ahead with the recone or would it be wise to air gun that bish out?

Use the air gun again.. And get some masking tape and put it on a stick and run it around inside the gap a few times to see if anything sticks to it. Last think you want to do is waste your time with a recone and have to start all over casue you didn't get everything out..

No prob! I get big packs of wood hobby sticks.. Kinda look like extra long popsicle sticks. They work great!
