Recone Question

C0CK,its whats for dinner
I will be reconing a couple speakers in a couple days, and I have done it before so the process is not a big deal.

My question is pertaining to the adhesive. For the previous recones I have performed I used CA glue, which came with the recone kits from RE. The recones I have purchased from TeamPSI did not include CA glue. Can I use a standard resin-based two part epoxy for the surround, spider, and dustcap? If not, what can I use that is fairly common, that I will not have to order off the internet?

gorilla glue at lowes?
Is that a serious suggestion?

I know it is a good adhesive, but my concern would be the fact that is expands. I would much rather use an epoxy, preferably two part so I can control the rate at which it will cure.

My main concern in the selection of epoxies would be something that will not dissolve the cone/spider as is cures and the chemicals evaporate.

ca glue is not just for audio phat.

Find a hobby shop and they will have some

It won't be the good black glue like most companies have but you can get a clear glue (there are different kinds and strengths) the stuff I use is clear with a purple sticker...works fairly well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you want some good glue call up Incriminator and see about buying some

you can order bob smith intl. ic2000 glue online. awesome glue for all around recone purposes. also a 5min loctite epoxy would work on the spider landing. i have not tried it on the surround though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

just go on hobbylinc and buy bob smith IC-2000 Tough Rubber CA glue for about 6.37 a bottle. It has great flow characteristics and dries instantly if you buy the activator spray for another $5 a bottle.
what he said, most of ur local hobby shops most likely carry that also, it used for gluing rc tires to wheels, and other various stuff so find a hobby shop with either lots of planes, or rc cars and they will have it
