RECOMMENDATIONS for 2 10's in a M3

with the image dynamics idq10 what kind of power will i need to poewr these??? would you take these over the eD's???? im going to check out sound domain to check the dimensions and stuff.

edit: i checked and they will fit in my enclosure... now would i get the 2ohm or 4ohm??? and whats the difference??

thanks for the help guys. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

Ohms is a measure of resistance. A 4ohm speaker has twice as much resistance as a 2ohm speaker. Amplifiers put out power accrding to the impedance load (in ohms) they see from the speakers hooked to them. For example, an amp that puts out 100 watts to a 4ohm speaker, would in theory put out 200 watts to a 2ohm speaker.

Imagine the amplifier as 'pushing' with a certain force. If you cut the resistance on this pushing force by half (from 4ohms to 2ohms), the amount of work done (in watts) will double.

There is a catch however, you cannot simply keep decreasing your ohm load (smaller and smaller ohm speakers) forever. An amplifier is only stable down to a certain impedance/ohm load. This is complicated by the many wiring options you have with multiple subs and/or multiple voice coils, as they can be wired together ina combination of series and parallel to adjust the final impedance load and number of channels the amplifier will see.

So basically which impedance ID subs to chose depends on your amplifier. I dont remember if you listed the amp already, and Im too lazy to go back and look. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif But it should be rated for a minimum possible ohm load. Figure that out and match your subs to reach that impedance load. This will gain you maximum power from your amp.

soundsplinter rl-i's would be a great choice..

that package deal from eD (if n stock, like mentioned earlier) would work.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

very nice write up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/handclap.gif.0c301076f534e244f0460706894f19e0.gif

so in other words i should try to get the least ohm stable to get the most power... so getting a 4 ohm sub seems kinda pointless.

so i just need to match the sub and amp... is there any down sides to running a 1 ohm system??? and it seems like noone is very impressed with eD should i not even think about them??? what is the best 10" sub for under $200 a piece that will fit in this box??? actually what would you choose?? are those splinter subs good????

im sorry for all the questions but i dont want to end up with some piece of shizzz subs.... i love music and it sounding good is very important to me!

if u can get a clss d amp to run at 4 ohms at the power u need, ur electrical system will love u from what i've read....i believe the new pg amps do it, as well as jl audio..

eD caught a bad rep from some stuff that happened concerning bad drivers, pre-pre-order, pre-order shipping, not shipping bs...long story short, at one time they were the sub bandwagon/flavor of the month to have according to this forum, some of the bs happened...noone liked them on any forum.....now they are supposedly getting their ish back together..

u can get a pair of soundsplinter 10's for under $300 and will be impressed by them. but don't take my word for it, email mike@soundsplinter.com, he's the owner. pm him here...SoundSplinter....or visit http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum..look for the soundsplinter forum...

but SS subs are great subs for the money! and i would chose those or memphis m3's....or memphis pr's depending on how much power ur sending and volume ur after

email mike...tell him what u got and what ur after..he'll give ya an honest answer whether or not his subs are right for ur application

tell him i sent ya!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif

cool thanks.. i emailed him.. ill keep you postedon what he says.

i was looking at other forums and soundsplinter seems to have a good name going for them!

kewl...

that's because it's a great product, at a great price and sold by a great person. u can't go with soundsplinter!

I cannot believe you are going to load 100 lbs of audio into an M3.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

You should be stripping weight from it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hahaha i know but whatever.... its all easily removed for track days and auto-x's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

but i love music and want my stereo to sound badass!

what would you guys pick from these if the money wasnt a issue:

-eD

-soundsplinter

-image dynamics

-RE

-adire

????????????

yah it makes it hard to find great subs that will fit... and yah the RE stuff is nice but most of them wont fit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif....

now i can do the:

-adire koda 10

-re re 10 (the specs on the site dont tell me what the mounting depth is though)

-image dynamics ID10V.2

-soundsplinter RL-i 10"

-eD 11Kv.2

these all fit in the enclosure.... and are basicly what ive been told to check out....what would you guys choose out of these???

thanks again guys for all the help!

the soundsplinter...easily...IMO

i love my rl-p...

did u know mike is throwing 3000wrms at his rl-i's?? yep..gained down of course...lol
