x2. I've run a xxx with that much power and it did great. As far as that other guys opinion goes....take it with a grain of salt. There are tons of people out their that love the xxx, that guy either had an enclosure issue or his install was otherwise poor (or both).

I believe that around .8 sealed per sub is recommended by RE.

I beg to differ on the poor install, or enclosure. He was running sealed with just about 1000 watts to his 15 and it didn't sound good. There have been a lot of people around here feeling the same way lately too, it's not just a single instance. The xxx is supposedly a great sub, but sealed it is not cutting it for quite a few people...it's also not working out so well with power under like 13-1400 watts +. There are better drivers out there for that kind of power, the brahama is one, and the rl-p is another.

Hawk stick with the xxx. Im you dont like them you can always sell them for the same price. AMd i know you like them. They get louder than two brahmas. 2 xxx will get so freakin loud. Port them if you can. it ill be **** loud

I agree that with 1kw there are better choices out there, including the brahma which I loved in a sealed box. My point is that the xxx doesn't ****. If you run a xxx in a sealed enclosure and 1kw and wonder why it doesn't get "loud"...

Also, you said "supposedly" it's a good sub, I take that to mean you have never owned or tested one. A xxx does great with 1kw in a large ported enclosure. I know, I've done it myself.

A big part of the "install" is choosing and matching appropriate components, so when you get a 15 xxx throw it in a sealed enclosure with 1kw, then I think you chose the wrong components to use together. Thats why I questioned the install. It just gets on my nerves when people run around bashing a sub when they are using it in an application that it's clearly not intended for.

Haven't owned a xxx 12 so I can't help much on the size, but with the power you are talking about I highly suggest a large ported enclosure. They really do sound great, UNLESS you want them to play midbass like some people feel they should (it's sad that I even have to say that...).

Anyway, I'm with the other guys that said make them send you some brahmas. They would fit your application much better unless you want to double your power, then its a different story.

I don't blame you for not getting another amp. if you did you would also have to start working on your electrical system. Just hound their *** until they get you some brahmas...

sell the amp you have add in another 100-150 bucks or so and get a amp that can truelly power your xxx's. If so, you should just power one of the xxx's with the amp you have now and put it in a ported enclosure. It could be even LOUDER with just that one xxx if ported. leave the other xxx for when u get another amp..

But is you port it 800 rms could be enough to get the xxx going at full excursion

He is not going to buy anything else. If he were to use both the XXXs they would only be hooked up to one amp. Even with that one amp he will get major dimmage. There is no way he would be able to hook up a second amp without electrical upgrades. I would personaly trade these in for the Brahmas. From all the reading and comparisons on the Brahma and XXX the only thing I liked more in the XXX is the look. If you plan to keep the XXX I would only hook up one in a large ported box. If you build a good enough box the bass will be unbearable. As for the other one I would sell it.

Well I now have an Audi Sportback 2.0 TDI (3 weeks old), which comes with a 140A stock alternator, also I have an Optima Yellow Top and now I also have a 50F LA Strike capacitator.

In my old car I used to power 3x MB Quart PWE 302's Seat Leon) with 2x 1F capacitators and a 120A alternator and yellow top. Never had dimming lights.

So I don't think one amp ran at full power will cause me dimmage...

And I don't want a ported enclosure. I am sticking to a sealed enclosure cause of the better SQ.

I'm going to say no. But not because there bad speakers just because there rms is 1600 and there not meant to be ran with half than in a sealed box. So nope.

With that low of power for those subs, you'd want to increase your sealed enclosure size to help with efficiency. But this will affect Q. I dont know how well the results would be. If I were you and considering keeping the XXX's, Id make the (long distance) call to RE, explain your situation (power available etc) and ask what they say. Im sure if you tell them the situation (dealer sent wrong subs), they'd be honest and recommend different subs if they feel its appropriate.

BTW, Ive yet to test my xxx's, but as of yesterday, Ive now spoke to 3 different people at RE that are 100% positive a sealed enclosure is best for a XXX for a SQ application. These guys build them and work them every day (and some have them in their personal cars), so I'll trust their word over a stranger here. *shrug* If I ever get to putting mine in, I'll try some diff boxes and find out for myself.
