Reasons why Marijuana is Illegal or should not be legalized???

I am writing a persuasive paper for Eng./Lit. AP and i am going to write it on legalization of marijuana. I am organizing my thoughts with a Pros and Cons chart and i honestly am having a terribly hard time coming up with Cons, or why it is illegal.

I said it might increase the number of users, which in return might possibly result in just freak accidents from inexperienced users or just users in general who operate or drive machinery.

Also, it would be contradictory for the gov. to go back on what they have already made illegal.

Other than that i am pretty much out of ideas. Can some of you ANTI-marijuana people chime in an give me your opinion of what bad would come out of legalizing the drug?

it will hurt the profits of the street growers/sellers

also all the money a prison gets per head considering that a good percentage of people are there for marijuana convictions .... the prison system would lose ALOT of money ...

another thing. i find it stupid that you want to write about drugs for a school paper. do you really want everyone to know your some pot head hippie? i sure as hell wouldn't..

Last time i wrote a paper about a topic just like this it didnt go down to well between the staff and myself LOL. Is this your topic or did the teacher assign it? If its your idea i would think twice about it.

Who says i smoke in the first place? I just think that it is rediculous that alcohol is legal and marijuana is not. It should be flipped or neither of them should be legal. The topic is mine and i have already written one paper or a similar subject. Everything is ok....

lol an essay is pretty tough but i did a persuasive SPEECH on the same exact topic ... ... getting in frot of **** near the whole school expressing my feelings about marijuana .. i felt quite satisfied ... ( btw i was blazed when i got behind the podium) oh yeah and i received an A- for the speech .. lol

that and the government gets too much money for it being illegal, drug seizures, fines, tax money to fight against dealers/trafficers. its billions.
