I recently had a set of alpine type s component speakers + a pioneer deh-mp-150 head unit installed in my 2001 corvette Z06.
The total cost for all of that together was
$516.58 (alpine 610c type s speakers, pioneer deh-150-mp head unit, and install cost)
It breaks down like this
$99.90 for the 610c component speakers themselves
$150.00 for 610c install cost
$10.50 for shop parts
$24.10 for tax.
Total = $ 284.50 Just for the speakers alone
They had to remove the bose 8" subs and 3.5" tweeters component setup, then fabricate a brand new 6.5" speaker plate setup just for the doors so the type s speakers would fit. There is not 8" + 3.5" adapter plates sold at all and because its a corvette with the factory bose system it required a few extra parts to even install a new head unit capable of playing mp3's stored on an iPhone.
$69.96 for pioneer DEH-MP-150 head unit
$19.98 for a 92 up chevy kit
$19.98 for GM 89 and up wire harness adapter
$19.98 for 88 up GM Micro Delco Antenna Adaptor Aft Mkt Radio
$65.00 labor
$4.55 was shop parts
$18.45 tax
Total for headunit install $217.90
Total car audio setup
$217.90+$284.50 = $516.58
Now my whole reason for posting this is, because I am curious if this price was reasonable for the average budget minded install cost. I kind of feel like I overpaid when you consider $195.00 of the $516.58 was labor alone and $229.80 was parts alone. Do you guys think this was a reasonable install cost?
The shop took 4 hours for the whole install
Just looking over the two receipts and thinking wow that was very expensive.
Edit: I left off the additional $14.18 for the 3.5mm aux wire to connect the iPhone to my DEH-MP-150
