Reverse camera issue

Hi all I am installing a reverse camera for my father and his 2008 Dodge ram 3500. He has a pioneer DMH-1500NEX radio and I bought Boss LPCB40 camera on Amazon. I was just trying to see if it would work first, so I hooked it up to the correct port on the radio (I checked the manual) and as for the small red wire, I tied that into the +12 V wire. I checked that with a multimeter. On the radio, the reverse camera is turned on and the polarity is set for battery and every time I put the truck in reverse I just see a black screen on the radio. Interestingly, enough, the LED lights on the camera turn on when I tap the RC connection on the frame of the radio or the edge of some other RC connections on the radio, but not the one for the camera and put. I’m not sure if that is relevant but I figured I would mention that, know why this camera might not be working? I’m a teenager and have a little bit of experience with electrical but not too much help would be much appreciated. Thank you. I’m trying to get this done before my dad gets back from vacation for a nice surprise.

It sounds like the Yellow RCA is not plugged in or in the wrong port.

I plugged the yellow RCA from the camera into the brown RCIN port on the radio. The manual said that’s the right port for the camera

Did the RCA remain plugged in at the camera? Might have gotten pullec a bit and lost contact. I just saw the manual and you are connected right. Only thing I see is the manual suggests their ND-BC8 camera. I would not put it past Pioneer to make the radio exclusive for their camera.

Send it back to bezos and try another one. After all, it's a Boss.

All the cables are tight. I just tried again and tested the RCA cable from the camera with a voltmeter and got 12V from it which doesn’t seem right.

Should be an easy set up. Yellow video cable into the rear of the stereo, Black wire ground, and Red power wire to the reverse wiring. If that's what you did and it still doesn't work, consider another camera. Good luck.

Should be an easy set up. Yellow video cable into the rear of the stereo, Black wire ground, and red power wire to the reverse wiring. If that's what you did and it still doesn't work, consider another camera. Good luck.
