Rear Quarter Glass

Hey guys I have 99 Monte carlo And I am replacing the rear passenger quarter glass due to I got hit by a semi recently. (got money from insurance but am doing work myself cuz I want to learn and its the best way IMO is hands on lol) My question is what kind of sealent/glue would I use to put the glass back in place like the ones car manufacturers use? That require you to use like a fishing line or a razor blade to cut through it. Also I was wondering if you cant buy it anywhere? Like would the ones that such as Advanced auto parts store sell work and suffice just as well. Cuz after looking at it today it just does not seem like it would work or be nearly as durable, strong, or as sticky as what the manufacturers would use. So where would be a good place to go get some sealent/glue if able to.

For windows that use the urethane rubber sealant, its best to get a window company to install. Its a special sealant that is designed to seal, stay flexible, be waterproof.

Even as an experienced auto mechanic (13 years and counting) , I've ALWAYS declined sealed window replacements. Window companies can do it much, much faster and better than I ever could.

Most places will sell it by bulk. As in cases, not individual tubes.

Agreed, let a glass shop do it. Maybe they'll let you watch so you can learn.

Most of that sealant needs to be applied hot, so special tools are needed and your working time is limited..

Let a glass shop do it x2!

I have pulled a windsheild and replaced in another vehicle without cracking it, but it wasnt worth the risk.
