Rear Fill Question

How will it work if I am running my front's off my RF T8004 and my rears off my HU? Will I lose my ability to fade since it is a 4 channel amp? I don't want to run them this way with no way to attenuate the rears.

You will still be able to fade. The fader affects both the internal amplifier and the RCA outputs.

If you mean will the balance control still work as well....yes.

Fade controls the front and rear, balance controls the left side and right side.

My two RCA outputs (front and rear) go to my 4 ch amp. The four channel amp will be hooked directly to my front comps (when i get them). Channel 1 and 2 to the left and Channel 3 and 4 to the right.

My concern is since my right channel for my front comps is ran off the rear RCA output on my HU is when I turn down the output from my rears it will also turn down the output to my right side comps in the front.

Yes, in that scenario when you fade to the rear, it will attenuate the right side of your setup, assuming that you are not using anything fancy like a "Pro Mode" that turns the rear outputs into midwoofer outputs and the rear outputs that you are using are exactly that...rear outputs.

Curious as to why you have your stereo set up like that? Are you running active or bi-amping?

What headunit do you have?

My bad...I sensed the confusion

I haven't done it yet. I am picking up some comps soon and am trying to figure out the best way to wire it. My reasoning for doing it this way is to use my amp to power my front comps and hu to power the rears. I would end up biamping the comps because i don't want to bridge the channels to run them. What do you recommend?

My HU is the Kenwood XXV-001D

Well, I'm not familiar with that HU and after searching briefly couldn't find the specs for it to know if it is capable of handling the xover duties for a fully active frontstage....but if you are wanting to utilize the passive xovers that came with the component set, I wouldn't bi-amp but rather bridge the amplifier down to 2 channels for your components.

actually to make it easier get a y splitter fior your rca's and slpit the front signal to both channels on your amp then hook your rears up through the hu amp

that is what i did in my girklfriends car with the type x comps i got and the rears are faded out through the hu amp

keep in mind you wont be getting the full potential output voltage, since it's being split to the internal amplifier, and the unit will run a lot hotter with the internal amp on as well

i say ditch the rears, and get the 5v you paid for

Another good point.

I guess i don't really need rears all that much. The only ones that ride in my back seat are my kids...but I would like to keep them if possible.

Any other suggestions?

i don't know what i was thinking.. you can turn the internal amp on and off, so you could turn them on when you have passengers, and then off, to get the 5v to your amp, for solo-travel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
