Rear Deck Seal?

I just took out my rear fill and was wondering if i should i seal these holes up before i put the cover back on? I'm gunna throw some pad under it anyways but if cover these hole with wood will the bass be trapped inside the trunk? I just need to know the pros and cons of doing this

are you firing forward or reverse with the sub? that is the deciding factor, firing forward, seal off the whole rear deck, fireing back... leave it open

I was going to try both, which doesn't really help. What do you think would be louder

1. Maybe cutting holes in the rear deck covering? (firing it towards the rear or cabin?)

2. Putting this pad under the rear deck covering but not sealing those holes with a hard material (wood, plastic, etc.)

(firing towards rear or cabin?)

I just want to know which will get the loudest. Its in a 1999 4door saturn sl2
