Really, really confused

I just guessed on the gain, and if I need to I think I will just get a new HU, and if I can't figure this out I think I might take you up on that offer Mazzasec
You don't really need to get a new HU. Just need to set your gains properly and check your wires. I'm thinking your gains are messed up.

He is a good guy and would be of some help. A new HU would do wonders with some RCAS too you'd be suprised

I intstalled a very similar set up in my bro- in laws jeep. (same sub just SVC4 and next step up amp) The voltage on the gains should read .5 to 8v. Withoug using an aftermarket HU I would run the gain on 6v ( I dont remember if the amp has that number in it, so if not run it at 8v) The Bass boost should be on 0. Also what is your SSF and LPF at?

I tried what grim reaper said, and I still got clipping. LPF is set at 100Hz. I really the problem is in the wiring, because if I fade to the back then it sounds great as loud as I want to go.

thats backwards

if the voltage on the input signal is low then the gains need to be dialed in high

or at .5 or so

I have to agree. Many people look for a cheaper solution to upgrading their sound system and leaving the factory head unit is the most common.MY PERSONAL opinion is the head unit should be the first thing you upgrade.I feel that the head unit is the back bone to a great sounding system. When you tap into the factory HU you lose the benifits of sending a higher voltage signal (or in some cases too high)to your amp.The differences between anything 2 volts or less as compared to 4 volts or higher are like night and day. Also,A good head unit will have a better signal to noise ratio than most factory units....even the ones made by major brands. The only factory units I would consider keeping would be bose or Boston Acoustic factory line.I could go on and on about the benifits of using an aftermarket radio....It really depends on what your looking to get out of your system. These are my opinions and others my disagree....I will agree that you dont have to replace your headunit...you probably need to have your gains adjusted by a professional with a volt meter or check your splices.

You can also look into getting a high level to low level converter, but most converters seem to sound crappy unless its an expensive quality brand.
