blaugh!!!!
Well I just got my TCAB with 2 12" type R's installed the other day...but here is the problem.

The only thing is that I have to say im dissapointed with is my speakers...they cant hang with the bass...and they should be able to for the setup I have

I have 2x 6 1/2" alpine Type R COMPONENT sets....one pair in the kicks....other speakers in the doors with tweets on the dash being powered by a hifonics Zeus...110rmsx4 AT 2 OHMS...im running at almost full gain!! to even get some decent sound when im poundin.

Here is the weird part....When my car is off and I test the terminals..it says 2 ohms...I turn the car on...it says 6......??????????????/ anyone? Im guessing its running at 2...but it doesnt sound like its even being amplified...Im not saying it sounds bad...but I have heard these things get a lot louder. It just almost sounds as if i dont even have them amplified....i can almost guarantee the radio would get them almost just as loud...which makes no sense. WTF!!

These components are rated at I believe 350 RMS....right now they are getting 220 A PAIR....do you think I need a little bigger amp...now its 110x4...think I should get a littlmore power like closer to 200x4?

oh with out a doubt...but for the front stage components I have...they should be able to keep up....I have heard these same components keep up with a 148-150db daily system pretty clear. That half the reason why im so frusterated...I have heard them sound a lot better.

You sure everything is wired in phase? With 2 sets of comps up front cancellation might be an issue as well.

thats how I got them down to 2 ohms....but the volume really didnt change!!! WTF!!
Are you running one channel to each set of comps or did you wire the left pair and right pair together to get a 2 ohm load on 2 channels? I don't understand how you are running bridged and at 2 ohms at the same time.

Also, those are 350 watts peak, the RMS for those is only like 70 watts. You could probably run them at 200w if you are careful with your gains, but you shouldn't need more than 100-150w to get them loud.

i am only using 2 channels on the amp...but I have the pairs of crossovers wired together in parallel...like this l_l l_l

Everything is pretty much in phase....the wiring on 2 of the tweets might be reversed...but I was told that unless its a dramatic situation...that shouldnt make much of a diff with tweets since there is no bass

I think I just need more power...cause they sound fine at full power here....I think the distortion at 100% gain is just from the amp.

So you really are getting 55w per component set then, and you have the gain maxed. Which is likely the cause of the distortion. Definitely need more power. Why do you have to use 2 sets of components? It would sound better I bet if you bridged that 4 channel to 2 and ran one set of components. If you really insist on 2 sets you will need a bigger amp. And reversing phase on the tweeters is fine, really depends on the car and personal preference for which way sounds better.

no...i bridged it at the crossovers...its runing at 2 ohms....the meter doesnt lie
No what? Unless I'm completely misunderstanding you. You've stated that your amp does 110x4 @ 2ohms and that you are running 2 sets of 4 ohm comps on only two of the amp channels. I'm not saying you aren't running at 2 ohms (you are), I'm saying that each of set of comps is getting only 55w. 110w at 2 ohms divided by 2 sets of comps on each channel. 110w/2=55w. If I'm not getting this explain how you are bridging at the crossovers.

yes....actually...you are right...I think....I am using 2/4 channel for 2 sets of comps. Sooooo....what do I do...? Or I should say...how do I fix.??
Depends on what your goals are. Are you using the other 2 channels of the amp for anything else? If not, try bridging the amp to run 1 set of components and see how that sounds. There's no reason why you would need more than one set of comps to get loud enough to keep up with your subs.

If you really need 2 sets of comps, you will need a bigger amp. The one you have will not give you enough power for 2 sets of comps however you wire it up. You could get a large 2 channel that does 300-400 watts at 2 ohms. I have one for sale right now, check my FS thread here http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154522. Or you could get a large 4 channel that does around 150 per channel into 4 ohms. With the 4 channel you would be able to control the gain on each pair of comps separately.
