If you dont want to brace a lot then you can build it out of 1 inch thick wood. I would double layer for a box with 4 18s or a pair of monster 3k+ rms each 18s but two 18s of this caliber is overkill.

My box was built with dowels and it has no flex single layer. I think you will be fine since its pretty much the same class.

Ok, ya I seen that about your box and was going to do something similar but when someone takes a hard stance on doing it a certain way, it made me think that maybe I missed something.
