I have worked for UPS back in my youth (I 100% agree with the OP) and have shipped with both UPS and FedEx as well as many other smaller logistical companies.

For me UPS has never filed a claim not in my favor. If there is an incorrect charge they always refund the charge on the next invoice. FedEx caused me a ton of headache and getting a rep to contact me is like pulling teeth. So I no longer deal with FedEx do to that reason. If you can not manage to find time in 2 months to return my call after several repeated attempts to make contact on my end, I have no use for your services. When I did ship through FedEx I did notice they care less about my business then any other logistical company in business at this time. UPS has always worked with me over the years.

The best results I have found is other logistical options though. All though they do charge a bit more, they have the best customer service and almost always are ahead of schedule. Not to mention I have never had one item damaged by any of the smaller companies.

what are some of the smaller companies?
They differ from state to state. I would do a google search to see what businesses are in your area. You might be surprised with what you find, then again their higher rates typically make it hard to choose them to ship though.

My opinion on this topic.. PACK YOUR **** RIGHT AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT BEING DROPPED. To be honest.. I thoroughly test my packaging before even considering shipping it. Anyone who has recieved a package from me will agree.

Hows that again?

What do you do, pack the ish up you are selling real good, then go throw it around random places to see how it will hold up? That makes about 0 sense......remind me, to never deal with you...

I worked as an unloader for 3 months in 2008 at the same place op works at. That was the only job that I have ever just stopped going to. When I worked there I didn't give a rat's azz about packages because the management was extremely demotivational. It sounds like nothing has changed. We used to unload trailers by pulling a package at the bottom of a wall and letting it topple down on to the belt and throw the rest on the belt real fast. It was an easy way to meet quotas with minimal effort. I've bought subs damaged in shipping by UPS, probably karma coming back haha.

Ups shot my mom in the face.
Believe it, it was probably my supervisor.

In terms of packing **** good to avoid it being broken, that does help, but I mean if say somehow a 150 crate accidentally falls ontop of whatever item your shipping, its gonna be toast. bit extreme of an example, but the heaviest thing I've seen through there, is probably like 180 pounds i think. My point is, if your gonna trust a big *** company with your one single solitary package, when they ship millions every single day, thats all your package is: one package, a number. When you look at those big numbers, stuff is gonna break, you just might happen to be one of the unlucky ones that it does happen to.
