RE XXX Tweeter

It's reading 0.5 ohms, but it is still working.. Mids/highs amp just kicks into protect at high volume, but at low volumes the tweeter is still producing sound. Now when I got that ohm reading I assumed it was blown, but uh, it seems it is not.

Suggestions on what the hell to do?

u have sound at low volume? like a hiss or just still plays?

if you got a ohm reading of .5 its most likely done

i had a mid once have a similar problem kind of... it would read 0.. or real low, i would mvoe the cone, it would read fine, sometimes it would sound alright at low volumes but once the volume went up it would just go nuts and sound like ****... i think it had a loose connection between the voice coil and tinsel because moving the cone seemed to be making the differnce

at low volumes it plays just as any tweeter should. Reproduces the full sound, not just a hiss.

And the XXX component tweeters are 4ohms I believe, but should read 3.6 or so. The other one reads 3.6, but that one reads 0.5 for some reason

I would not have that tweeter hooked up the amplifier any long. Hopefully it's still under warranty since you bought it from an authorized dealer, let's see what RE says.

The XXX components are 2 ohm correct? Both tweeter and mid?

Anyway I'm thinking about picking these up, tell me what you think with them once they're set

No, the tweeters are 4 ohm, mids are 2ohm. Not sure what the ohm load totals out to throught he passive crossovers as I'm running active. But the mids I got about 2.4ohms, and the tweeter (good one) reads about 3.6-3.8

I believe I received it damaged. It isn't blown, it still plays 100% fine, just at .5 ohm, which my mids/highs amp can't do, haha
