Re Xxx 18

As I get closer to building my new box, I have been playing with the calculations for the size. To have a Qtc of .707, I would need a 20 cube box!! I have been designing around the 7.5 cube box that RE recommends for the woofer. The port on the 7.5 cube box ended up being 150 in^2 at 44.75 in long, making it about an 11 cube box.

I have yet to call RE about these numbers, as my cell phone tower is bork'd and I have no service.

What do you all think I should do? The 11 cube box is possible for my trunk, but it has a Qtc of 1.0076. I know it will sound fine, but I was hoping for the much flatter response curve. Should I keep the 18" for the car, or look into getting another sub? I wanted to compete with the 18, but not in this car, so I will be keeping it no matter what.

If you want loud chinny, go with the 2 12's they have more displacement and SX's are just plain louder than XXX's...

I don't know if I would be using the XXX for comps, but I was looking to get 2-18s in a good bandpass box (a properly built one, and the xxx wouldn't suit well, the BL is kinda big). But the a daily driver, I want my 18xxx to get loud for me. I'd definitely get the 2 12" SX's. I'm sure they would have a lot more output.

I have heard both. How loud is your XXX 15? Have you metered it? How far can you hear it?
