Re sx 12 making bad noise

just hooked up my 12in RE Sx and when i turned it up found out it makes a REALLY loud POPPING noise when bass hits. dont really hear it when it hits lows maybe cuz its so loud dont here it but, i know it doesnt sound good. and a light on the amp flashes same time the noise hits. the amp is a JL 500/1 and the sub is dual 1. should be a fine match up. but i d k? help me out please im confused... i just think that i bought the sub and someone didnt inform me about this noise....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

i dont think so. its loud poping noise and only makes noise when its turned up like when sub is in about half potential. im gonna take it out of box tommrow and see what it is but sub looks to be like brand new and not really used. it is still stiff. when i got it i checked to see if it worked to my home theather and it moved so i figured it was fine then when hooked up today. it just starts POPPING and its LOUD.

test the coils with a DMM

push the sub down see if there is any scraping at the coil

if those are both good, prob issue with a ground/amp

i have a problem with my amp i supose its a 500/1 and and its not puttin out sound now so it must of been the amp. i think i also have a problem with my RCA's
