Re subs

Yea RE got broken up and I believe put under new management or ownership or whatever. Not sure if they are still hand built....I know FI has sort of picked up where they left off and is supposed to have unbelievable subs but thats all they manufacture is subs. Havent personally heard anything from them but to answer your question about RE...very nice products. Of course inexperienced users who dont know what they're doing and wire their equipment up wrong, in result causing the subs to blow, will bash the product. Most problems in car audio come from the installers.

I have a RE SE/X12D4 and put 750 watts to it daily and it's good enough for what I need. I don't compete but just use the seat of the pants method and it sounds great to me for 1 12" sub. Just my $0.02.

How do you know if you got the old (better) se's? I bought some SE's and they have the old basket, and arent ***'s. What year did this new company take over?

Well I have been out of the game for awhile so I dont know lol. If it helps my cones Say RE and at the bottom SE, they dont have the alien head looking thing.

RE continued to manufacture their old SE & SX designs after the US Amps buyout, but they moved production overseas. If the box your sub came in has the US Amps/RE logo, there's a good chance they were built in Asia.

I've heard the MT's, MX's and XXX's are still assembled in the USA even now, but I don't know how true that is...

Those look like the same boxes that my SEs came in. Awesome subs though.

As far as I can see, the majority of that stuff is their new lines, not the old products. Actually, everything I see there is their new stuff, bu I cant read every box so there might be a few older items.

RE was sold/bought in 2006, and any models that are 2006 or newer are considered post Scott Atwell and David Moore. Scott and David helped design several of the still-current models like the 06xxx, MX, etc... but they have nothing else to do with the product beyond initial design.

If your box has USAmps on it, its almost certain your speaker was built in Asia. You are however correct that the MT, MX and XXX are still built (assembled) in the US. At least, last I heard that was still true.
I still say Im disappointed Fi has never gotten into BL optimized designs like they used at RE.
