RE SE/SX vs Kicker L5/L7

I know that the L5/L7 is probably louder but how much louder than say a RE SX? i've owned a pair of RE SE's in a sealed box powered by a hifonics bx1000d and it was pretty loud... how loud would a L7 sound? I came up on a good deal for a 2005 15in L7 and im waiting for my jbl 1200.1 to come in... I honestly don't know what to run in my car... I loved my SE's but I think the single L7 might be louder, i've heard that Kicker's are just SPL subs with no SQ. Any comments would be appreciated... thx

They sound worse, the further you are below their RMS. They have alright SQL but wont compare to the SQ of the SE's.

I really liked my SE's but I had to sell them due to money issues, I have this kicker now in some prefab sealed box and im really thinking of selling it for like 300 dollars on craigslist and buying a 15 SX.. im not sure, i need your guy's input

if you like what you have now, stick with it. but if your wanting to upgrade to the L7 so you can get louder, shoot for it. i ran 2 12" l7s in my civic coupe with the same amp at 1ohm in a prefab ported box and it was plenty loud. i would say it was very close to my buddies 2 15" audiobahns getting 1600rms in a 4runner when it comes to spl and loudness.

I had a 15" SX in a 3.14 cu ft box tuned to 30 hz...it was the loudest setup I had in my car. Too loud for me......too many rattles

ok dont put the SE and SX in the same comparison because the SE isnt loud at all compared to an SX, not even remotely, I know speakers running half the power that will get way louder than SEs, and an L7 is not louder than an SX. If you want loud get the SX and the right box for it, if you want ghetto loud get a L7 but it wont be as loud as the SX.

No. It would all depend on the enclosure...L7s can get louder than a SX if put in the right enclosure.
