im trying to build a ported box for my re se12. its a bit irregular

2.16 cu ft [without sub] ported @ 33hz 2.01 cu ft with sub

height 12.5

depth 16

width 25

wood thickness 0.75 MDF

im trying to use various online calculators so that i can get the slot dimensions but i keep doing something wrong [numbers do not make sense]. i see alot of ported boxes for this sub and they are too wide. is it possible for me to do a slot ported with these dimensions or do i need a wider box? it would be nice if someone just told me the correct slot width //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif 12.5h x ?w

made a small mistake ... its actually 11.0 height

also

what would be a good slot width[ width of the hole]

for my slot i used a calculator from 12volt.com and i got .75 width 11.0 height and 7.7 length

are these dimensions accurate?

.75" IMO is probably a little small. I used a 2" x25" to get a 27hz tune. Between 2 and 3 inches would be fine, but you'd have to readjust your lenth accordingly.

for 2"width the slot length is 10.8 inches is that right?
For those dimensions you gave I'm getting 1.8ft3 for internal volume, including port displacement, not including sub displacement.

But to answer your question, yes, you're on the right track.

ok sealed your getting 2.1 as you stated. that means no port nothing now im feeling generous u want a design? here h.o. i will post one up.

edit:

ok here you go bro. started out at 2.1 until port. The port measure 3" wide by 11 tall thats 33 sqin of port area which is just perfect. in order to achieve a tuning of 32 hz the port needed to be 35.12 or 35 12/100 long this design is 35" long the 12/100 will not make an audible difference. so here are some screen shots:

that good for you if so pm me and i will shoot you you cut out dimensions.

SomeDonnieDude -im looking for sound quality.

GregU -i never counted port displacement into my calculations [ i am a newbie in ported box design ].

d man1 - wow that was alot more complicated than what i was thinking of but i got no problem building that.

newbie question... what would happen if i was to add an extra sub [same exact one] to a ported box that was built to the specs of only one?

KHARPS - But won't the box be significantly less in volume with a port that long?

is this right? i can increase the width of the box from 25 to 37" max

i found this web site http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/

i figured out that i could do 2 12" SE subs with my available space [ 20L x 37w x 13H]. I left 3" for sub excursion space because im using my third row storage space [08 rav4]

3.287 cuft ported 34.7hz

outside dimensions :

height 13" slot 12.5" x 11.5"

depth 17"

width 37" [not an L shape]

slot width 3”
