When will the home audio setup be out? I will take 1. Are you going to use bigger subs in the future such as 10's-15's? Can you get a 5.1 set and buy a sub seperate? So you would have 5 speakers and 2 subs?

It's a good idea, and the one picture that I can see looks nice. :p

Are you hand-building all these?

Although I'm not usually a fan of silver, you said it's actually a real brushed aluminum housing? That would make a huge difference to me.

I've got some more practical questions, if you don't mind.

Since the sub will only cover the bottom two octaves, what are the rest of the drivers going to be?

You mentioned the HC was powered... I'm assuming the SE also?

For all the cabinets in the set, since you mention they are brushed aluminum... is that a skin, over a wooden enclosure, or are these actually machined aluminum (in which case "wow" on the inexpensive cost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)? If it's metal, obviously I'm wondering how you are managing damping properties.

Also, what's the actual differences between the HC and the SE set?

Looks interesting.

When you say a 5.1 system, you don't mean like those gay-*** small little cube piece of shit surround speakers with 2.5" woofers and a tweeter, do you ?
While I would LIKE to get a 5.1 system, I'm more than happy with my 2.1 set-up ...
Just like car audio, it's all in the implementation.
There are some great small drivers out there, that yield great sound and broad range.

Check out these 2" and 3" drivers from Aura, for example:

(click "specialty transducers" at the top)

Those aren't even expensive.

It all depends on your needs too, and what kind of output levels you expect from the thing.

With small speakers and an 8" sub, this would be perfect for my home needs, but probably not for the person who's rigged up a Marshall stack in his living room at any point in their life, or has secretly envied Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future where he gets blown across the lab by the 6' diameter speaker.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You mean Bose?

A real 5.1 system has five good speakers and a good subwoofer. Bose has thusfar produced nothing that is good (except profit.. $1000 for stuff that costs about $15 to manufacture.. obsurd).

i'll just buy the hc speaker set and put them w/ my 15 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif that should make those bond movie explosions come to live now shouldn't it....

i also voted loyd is gay.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i say if you can produce them w/out much delay and keep your car audio stuff coming then more power to you...and i'd mos def buy at least one set

LOL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Please, please tell me "there's no such thing as an emergency meeting for the ONYX issue" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif

I know he's got those MT's, but is he actually affiliated with RE?

... maybe the MT has no pole vent because they got the backplate/pole units from...

just kidding... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I shouldn't even joke, but that issue really is way out of proportion. It's truly between Onyx and Destijl/RE, but it's too late now.
