re buy time what should i get

ok how good would a 15'' sx's sq, is it above thats say a typr r? or below and would this 15 feel good at about 5 cubic feet tuned to about 32?
15" SX's sound like shit. I had two of them in my blazer. They're loud as hell but they lack in low end. Don't think that I'm endorsing the type r's either because I've never heard them.

I can't totally agree that they lack the low end, but I will agree that they are not the most musical subs I've heard....deffinately lacking in the SQ department. Again though, very loud drivers.

EDIT: As far as a SQ sub that gets loud...try and find a used avalanche, I know there's been one for sale on here recently. When I was doing testing in my brother's car, until the subs were given 1100 watts (were given ~400, ~800 first) the avalanche was louder to the ear than the SX and MUCH more musical, a very accurate driver.

i read this whole post an the whole link but noone talked about the mt's do they pound extremely hard?? an what kinda space and amp would i need for one of those 18's??

I want a single sub setup that sounds like jurassic park //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif (for the impala)

as stated RE would reccomend 6.5 cubes per SX 18.

To your question about going with a 12... You dont want to choke a 15 for airspace they will sound terrible without proper box room. A 12" SX ported @ 35 hz should be enough bass for you man. No real sense in getting anything bigger than that.

I'd say cop that Orion 1200d too

Well my intentions for a while have been to pick up a couple SX 15s. After reading what I just read I'm not so sure. I've researched the Avalanche a lot and I'm just not convinced. Some of the other forums (automotiveforums.com for example) really push REs products and have nothing but good things to say about the SX. AA gets a lot of attention as well but I've never heard anything about the Avalanche that would make me choose it over the SX. Granted they do used Adires XBL2 technology. I understood the SX to be fairly good on the SQ as well as well as rattling your neighbors house. If the Avalanche offers better SQ and I pick them up will I still get the TL numbers and low end that I am looking for? Also, what kind of enclosure space to port 2 15s? I drive a Grand Prix. Have about 13 cubes to give up. Thanks for any replies.
