RE Audio?

Instead of cluttering the board with another vs. thread, I am gonna try to keep this one simple. I just ran across some RE subs, in particular the RE 8's and SR10. Are these decent subs? What type of sub are they (SQ, SQL, SPL)? I'm looking at 2 8's or 1 10 in a small sealed enclosure. Thanks.

I would say they are OK subs but mainly it all comes down to the install....

so get reliable equipment and a good box builder and you cant go wrong...unless you know nothing about car audio

They get decently loud off of their relatively low rms wattage rating.

I have heard both the SR's and the RE 8's.. and they get very musical, sealed aswell as ported. Great buy.

I have a set of the SRs and the SEs.I haven't had a chance to play with them yet but i see nothing but positive things. If you only have a small amount of room,i think they are good on SQ.

Kinda looking around for a set of SXs also, lol.

Check out some of the youtube videos on them.

That is what I wanted to hear. I was gonna do a JL 8w3, but I may do the RE SR10 instead. How do they compare? The biggest thing is I have about .5 cu ft to work with, which means about all that will do well is an 8. If this 10 is decent, then that will help me out. Thanks a lot.

Eh they are ok, I heard a setup with 8 re 8's in a ported box got that got really really loud, I had 2 RE 10's in my truck sealed and didn't like them. I have personally ran RE, SE, SX, SEXXX, MX and XXX's and my favorite by far are the XXX's so if money and space isn't a problem I say pick up an IA 20.1 and a XXX 12" and you will be more then happy. Plenty of SQ and definitely plenty of SQL, best sub/amp combo I have run yet.

just read your post above nm about the xxx. .5 to work with gives you the same problem I had, it sucked. I then proceeded to remove half of the rear seat of my truck then I had 3.5 cubes and I was much happier.

I'm gonna have a box built, so ported may be an option, but we are still looking at .5 cubes. I may stick with the JL's I had my mind set on, just saw a new set of woofers and needed to know how they compare. Anyone have a direct comparison with JL (10w1 or 8w3)? Thanks.

I loved my 2RE10s ported and tuned low!

I wasn't too impressed with the output of my 2 RE8s sealed, however they did play fairly low and had clean clear sound, they just didn't get that loud.

I don't have any experience with the SR series, but they look well built.
