I love the SE's simply because they perform really well in both ported and sealed apps. especially sealed.

I never actually heard the icons in person but from what heard and seen about them on the forums. it seems like a pretty fair comparison. if you were to go ported though I'd probably try the Icon's just because their not as mainstream as the SE's are nowadayz

with the power your using id use the SE's over the icons

the icons are a great sounding sub but i prefer the SE for pricing as well as price/performance ratio

if you had a little more amp powerid say go with the icons though

you can get SE's off ebay for about half what a icon cost new

If budget is your first focus, get the SE's as they can be found on ebay cheap. In reference to the initial post of SE v Icon off approx 750 to pair, lets look at the figures just for 10's:

SE 10"

rms 600

Qts. .42

Xmax 18mm

SPL 1W/1m 83.2

Icon 10"

rms 1000

Qts. .38

Xmax 20.5

SPL 1w/1m 83.1

Running off the same power So with nearly equal sensitivity and an advantage in power handling and xmax, the Icon should be the choice if money was not a factor. Plus a lower total Q would lend it to a slightly smaller box.

But in reference to the 300 watt question, something in the range of an IA 187, SSA Dcon, PG RSD, SoundSplinter RL-i, Ascendant Assassin would be more fitting. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

CSS SDX10 would be another choice...

Or something Exodus, either the DPL-10 or something larger if you want more swept area...

Peerless XLS/XXLS...

Lots of good choices out there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Meh, just buy whichever one you can throw more power at later on if you get the itch.

Most likely you will since you're making this move now. The SE's are nice woofers, but they don't love a lot of power.. there's a reason RE made the SX later on down the line.

Hit up the ICON, better yet, get one and put that entire amp to it in a ported box.

I actually already one one Icon, its a nice sub. The low end is very nice.... i was surprise at how well it did in the small sealed box it was in. I would like another one but for one icon i can get two SE's lol.....

Wish they had a repeat customer discount!! lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

By the way i am using 12's!

lol, well if you already have it, just make a ported box. Tune to 31hz. ICON's are proven performers there.

Be a lot cheaper than buying new woofers.
