RE Audio SE 12" Box Question

HEy guys, first post after a bunch of searching and confusion so i though i would ask for some help. I have two RE Audio SE's in a 1.25 cubic foot per chamber split sealed box powered by a Cadence Z1000 amp in my 04 Tahoe. The subs absolutly have no top end bass whatsoever, they seem to be peeking at about 45hz and are just plain ignorant trom 50hz down but above they are fall flat to the point you may not notice there are subs there. I listen to mostly rock music and am lookin for that punch ya in the head kick drum and i am not feelin it at all with the sealed box setup and these subs so far.

Most of the threads go back and forth on wether the SE's should be sealed or ported and i havent seen anything that refers to a bigger vehicle and this senerio so i thought i would ask on some opinions that will get me some good high bass kick drum SQ out of these subs or am i barking up the wrong tree by using the SE's?

Its se15's but mine are in 2 cubes each sealed on a sundown 1500 and they are great on kick drums. I listen to mostly rock as well and this has been my favorite setup in quite awhile. Most are going to tell you kick drum is front stage material but I'm the same way, I like my subs picking up some of it. My setup is larger and in a truck though, so maybe that explains it :/

How much power does the z1000 do? Maybe the subs just aren't getting the power they need.

you could probably try a smaller sealed box for the "punchy" bass i think you're looking for. You could also try adjusting your LPF on the amp. I would set it to around 70-80hz and see what that does for you. Hope this helps

How much power does the z1000 do? Maybe the subs just aren't getting the power they need.

Thanks for the reply, the amp is putting 500 watts to each. I was thinking i was a bit underpowered but i did see alot of posts that people were running alot less and getting good results.

Smaller box, tune hu/amp better (maybe add a tiny bit of BB, but not much), and make sure the hu and amp are not both setting the lpf's for the subs

I have a Kenwood DDX812 head unit so i am using the crossover for the subs in the head unit which is set to 70hz (amp set to full range), i should have mentioned that in my original post

i have a bit of an update.....i shrunk my box down to .9 cubic feet per chamber today and they are way worse now. I lost alot of output and its almost like they arent there......is it time to go ported?

i put my single se 12 in a 1.25 sealed and made quite the difference over my 1 cuft.... juz my .02 cents
