Rattling subs?

I'm running 2 kicker CVR's (the 2004 model) off a hifonics 1000W amp at 1 ohm.

They are in a sealed fiberglass box in my spare tire well.

When I have the volume turned up pretty good, it sounds like the subs are rattling? At first I thought it was my trunk, but its actually the subs.

I'm pretty sure I have my gains set properly and that it isnt clipping. You can start to hear the rattle at semi-low volumes.

Could it be the tinsel leads hitting on the back side of the cone?

Any ideas? I'm really stumped.

I had that same thing once with some old school soundstream usa 10s. The magnets seperated from the baskets causing the rattling.

I was going to try to mount the subs inverted, but my screws arent long enough. The magnets appear to be fine. Could it be my enclosure? possibly too much volume?

I think its about 2.5 cubes for both subs

I've got a monster ported mdf enclosure in the shed but I dont really want drag it out.

a 1000watts mybe you pushed them to hard?those subs are only 300rms?

They are 400Wrms, and the hifonics only puts out about 700Wrms, I measured it with my oscilloscope

I have 3 oscopes. I bought them from the junk room at work for a really good price. (they base the prices on weight). I dropped the best out of the 3 and broke the picture tube though. quite depressing.

I guess I'll have to haul that other box out....I'll do that after lunch.

Oh yeah, I tried hooking the subs up to my 600W kenwood amp (about 300Wrms?) and they still rattled, so I wasnt putting nearly as much power through them. So thats kinda making me think its my enclosure.

I tried my other box and no rattles, so I guess my fiberglass enlosure is just too weak. I tried playing a 30 and 40hz test tone and it sounded fine though. Whats a good crossover point for my subs? I think I have it at about 100hz

75 to 85 hz at a 12 to 18 db slope is the most common, a 100 hz cut off will work well with a 24 db slope.
