quick wiring question

do the amps have to be the same? does it matter? in my case ill be using the same. so ill piggyback the amps together and just run the ONE set of rca's to the deck. would that be okay?

this is how one of my boys ran his 2 amps to his sub

i dont think thatd work because if theres only one set of rca's one of the amps wouldnt be getting a signal from the head unit
some amps have both an input and an output on them..i believe its fine as long AS the amps are exactly the same....and the gains are matched also. you can just daisy chain both amps if your amps have input/output on them and not just input.

well in your diagram, what are the 2 leads from each amp going to ur headunit mean?

also, i think "piggy backing" is fairly common. as long as one amp is connected to the other it shouldnt matter. its just i never seen someone piggyback amps to ONE sub before. maybe thats different . im not sure!

theyr the rca's to the head unit, but yea ive only seen this done once so my knowledge is limited in this area, i just seen how my friend wired it and his sub hit hard so i was just puttin in a lil info to try n help

100%- you can use a seperate amp to power each of the coils.

You need to either use an cheap RCA splitter to split the sub out to the 2 amps or use the amps internal passthrough to send the signal through to the second amp.

You also need to make sure that the amps are set up identically to ensure each coil gets the same wattage and frequencys.

Set ups using multiple amps to power a single sub are common in SPL competition vehicles.

Note-This is not the same as strapping 2 amps together to make one big amp but has many of the same advantages.
