rattles

Well, the easiest thing to do is go to your local car audio shop and buy some sound dampening mat (Dynamat makes a $10 kit just for plates) and stick some to the back of your Lic. plate. There are however other and cheaper ways if you're creative. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Some 3M adhesive and an old mouse pad or two for example (cut to fit the back of the plate).

If you do decide to get some mat, get online and order a bulk of it and do the front doors and rear deck (whole trunk if you can afford that much), you'll be amazed at the difference it will make (be sure to follow directions, it's really very simple but the tips they give are helpful). The best quality product for the price that I've found thus far is Brown Bread (you can also order this on ebay). There are other less expensive mats out there, like RAAMmat, eDead and SDM "Blue" The cheapest of the lot is edead's v.1, the rest are thicker (i.e. better dampening) and close to one another in price, except Dynamat which is ridiculously expensive.

There's my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth. God bless you, hope you get your rattle fixed.

yeah 50% of my car rattles also... just thought id start with the most annoyin and work my way from there...

also... what if i want to be creative to my whole trunk, not just my licence plate?

could 100 mousepads work? lol... ok now more seriously... if i found similar stuff on a store u think it could be a low budget solution?

peace

LOL!!! Yeah, I suggested the various SDing products cuz I didn't think you'd want to stop at your lic plate(although I like the weather stripping idea). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I including the most well known products (including sounddeadeningmaterial.com's) so you could do your own research and choose the one you liked best. I've been to several stores and looked at everything from Dynamat Extreme kits (foolishly expensive) to roofing material and patches (similar to SD mat) and the best products per prices I've found are still the ones I listed. Sound Deadening Material's "blue" (I listed as SDM "Blue") is fairly inexpensive and it's 1.5mm thick (good dampening), but in all honesty Brown Bread is a hair thicker (1.6mm) and heavier (better dampening)... plus it's a bit cheaper, especially if you buy it on ebay.

I just SDed my car and I like to research the spit out of everything i invest in, so I figured I'd pass on my little bit of knowledge in an attempt to help. Take it for what it's worth.

God bless you and take care.

for lic. plate:

1) make sure you use all 4 screws //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

2) take off your lic. plate holder. just use the plate. this will take deadening the holder out of the equation

3) put weather stripping on the back of the plate and you are good to go.

if it still rattles, this it is your plate flexing. this is due to your trunk flexing/rattling. solution, sound deaden the trunk.

http://www.fatmat.com the cheapest you will find. i used it and was quite happy, with a ton left over for future projects. goes on easy, doesn't smell like the other brands, and is effective. did i mention cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and for those places that are hollow, never forget Egg Carton Foam (Wal-Mart or Target has it). i promise you, you use it once and it will become your new best friend. i never even start a project without some around.
